My holistic programmes combine nutritional advice, wellbeing coaching and DNA testing. They are individual, science-based, and bespoke to my client's needs, always considering my client's health journey, goals and dietary preferences. These programmes offer DNA testing (although this is not compulsory), to be able to personalise as much as possible my client's unique genetic code.
Nutritional therapy is not a replacement for medical care but, rather, a complementary medicine, tailored towards the need of the individual. Whereas conventional oncology's function is to destroy tumour cells in the body, the goal of nutritional therapy is to increase the host's resistance to tumour cells, by changing the internal environment of the body. Therefore, nutritional therapy is a very important tool to decrease the risk of cancer recurrence. Nutritional therapy has a holistic approach, which means that it considers all aspects of an individual's health. An individual is more than their cancer history.
Environmental and genetic factors play an important role in the aetiology of breast cancer. Our genes are constantly interacting with our environment, to change the way they work. Diet is one of the most important environmental factors in gene expression. We are born with certain genes that can't be changed. Our lifestyle and diet, however, can influence their expression. Therefore, by changing these factors, we can increase or decrease our risk of chronic diseases, such as cancer.
DNA testing is an extremely useful tool for individuals who wish to regain their health after breast cancer treatment and for those who have concerns around a family history of breast cancer. The information garnered from DNA testing is immensely valuable and will remain relevant for life. In my programmes, I recommend different DNA tests to illuminate ways to resolve specific health goals such as weight loss, oestrogen overload or detoxification issues.
I use wellbeing coaching to empower my clients to find their own healthy lifestyle habits that will encourage long-term healing. Changing our health cannot happen without changing our behaviour. People need to be able to take control, with the correct tools, confidently, when creating their new lifestyle, which can be very challenging and daunting.
My programmes are designed to give you the latest information to keep your body as healthy as possible, to reduce your risk of breast cancer, or to regain your health after it. Please be aware that they are not for treating actual cancer and are not substitutes for medical treatment. However, there is a vast amount of evidence that shows the amazing power that food and lifestyle choices can have to protect us from breast cancer.
In all my programmes I offer a basic level of understanding of nutrition, relevant to my client's individual plan, as well as nutritional advice and a lifestyle plan, designed specifically for my client, that takes into consideration their genes and environmental factors. This includes diet, level of toxicity, body composition, movement, stress levels etc. I offer two different levels of support depending on the individual client's needs.
