Improving Your Health Through the Best Medicine of All
Nutrition and its link to health, has been a life-long interest of mine. I resonate with what William Shakespeare said once that “Our bodies are our gardens, to which our wills are our gardeners”. Nutrition is a key part in achieving a healthy and creative life. I believe that prevention, through optimal nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, is the best medicine of all for all aspects of our well-being, including the physical, economic, social, emotional and psychological.
I was born on the north coast of Spain where I was brought up eating and cooking a Mediterranean diet. Colour is extremely important in all areas of my life, especially in food! My interest in nutrition started in my early 20s when I experienced the impact of good nutrition on my own health. That interest gradually increased when I became pregnant with my first child. Having four children has taught me the importance of embracing a well-balanced lifestyle to ensure life is lived in the best and most enjoyable way.
I am a registered nutritional therapist with a degree in Nutritional Medicine from West London University in 2014. I am member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition & Nutritional Therapy (BANT) which is the professional body for registered nutritional therapists. I’m also an associate member of The Royal Society of Medicine, The Institute of Functional Medicine and the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), which is a voluntary regulator for complementary therapy set up with government support to protect the public. Registered practitioners are required to have proper practice insurance and regularly attend seminars and courses to keep up to date with the latest research and best practice in the world of nutrition and lifestyle medicine.
I am currently doing an applied functional medicine mentoring program as part of my commitment to attaining the highest standards of knowledge and competence in the practice of evidence-based nutritional therapy and functional medicine.
My main areas of interest are cancer nutrition and prevention, problems relating to weight, menopause, healthy family nutrition and eating patterns and ageing.
I have worked for over 4 years with cancer patients on wards and in clinics in two different NHS Trusts providing cancer nutrition. I also have more than 3 years of experience running a weight management clinic in North London Cancer Centre – supporting patients during and after their cancer treatment, in particular breast cancer patients. Currently I work full-time in London, helping young adults, those with cancer and families with their nutrition.

Functional Medicine determines how and why illness occurs and restores health by addressing the root causes of disease for each individual.
BANT is the professional body for nutritional therapists. Its primary function is to assist its members in attaining the highest standards of integrity, knowledge and professional practice, to ensure that you, the clients’ interests are protected at all times. BANT imposes a strict Code of Ethics and Practice on all members.
CNHC’s key function is to enhance public protection by setting high standards for anyone who registers with CNHC. The CNHC ‘quality mark’ is recognised as the hallmark of quality for the sector. This means that the general public, and those who commission the services of complementary healthcare practitioners, will be able to choose with confidence by looking for the CNHC quality mark.
The CNHC has been developed with the help and support from the Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health. The Department of Health has consistently supported the CNHC throughout its start-up period and is committed to establishing the CNHC as the national voluntary regulator in the complementary healthcare field.
The Royal Society of Medicine is an independent, apolitical organisation, founded over 200 years ago. They are one of the largest providers of continuing medical education in the UK for the medical profession. I often attend conferences at the RSM to develop my science based knowledge.
